About University of Tokyo 2024 Scholarship

The University of Tokyo Scholarship aims to offer undergraduate students from various countries, including Japan, who are dedicated to pursuing a career in biology or related sciences and planning to advance to graduate studies, an eight-week experience in biomedical research within the basic and translational sciences.


Throughout the program, each student will be assigned to a laboratory, overseen by a distinguished scholar affiliated with one of the five participating graduate schools/institutes of the university: Graduate School of Science, Graduate School of Engineering, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, and the Institute of Industrial Science.

University of Tokyo Scholarship 2024 Value

Accommodation:

• Stipend: 270,000 JPY
• The stipend is versatile and can be freely allocated for food and personal trips throughout your stay in Japan.

Travel Cost:

• Economy-class airfare to Tokyo or round-trip train tickets for domestic students will be covered for program participation.
• The most cost-effective route and schedule will be determined through discussions between participants and the program office.
• In the event of a schedule change due to personal reasons, participants are obligated to reimburse the University of Tokyo for the initially arranged airfares.

University of Tokyo Scholarship 2024 Eligibility

• Enrolled in colleges or universities in the Asia region granting a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.
• Must have completed at least the first year of undergraduate study when the summer program commences.
• Should not be graduating before the summer program starts and must plan to resume undergraduate studies for at least one semester or one quarter after the program concludes.
• Demonstrated strong academic performance.
• Possess a proficient understanding of English, evidenced by a minimum TOEFL (iBT) score of 72.
• Demonstrated interest in pursuing a Ph.D.
