PROF. AKANJI CONGRATULATES JAMB ON 2021 UTME

PROF. AKANJI CONGRATULATES JAMB ON 2021 UTME
Modified: 4th December, 2024 Jamb
The Deputy Chairman of the 2021 Virtue Vanguard Group(VVG), Professor Musbau A. Akanji, has congratulated the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB) for the successful conduct of the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME).

In the same vein, the Don commended the Registrar's tenacity on the use of National Identification Number(NIN) stating that the new registration regime which makes NIN a prerequisite was a potent weapon that helped to curb impersonation and examination malpractice during the just-concluded UTME.

The erudite scholar's commendation was contained in a letter to JAMB and read in parts: "I wish to formally congratulate you, sir, on the successful conduct of the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) that held recently.”

"In doing so, I want to point out some of the factors that enabled the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), under your leadership, to achieve such feat."

"The linkage of NIN with Registration for the examination achieved the objective of almost virtually elimi nating impersonation in the examination.

Your insistence on this step, in spite of opposition from various influential quarters, showed Nigerians that fundamentally good policies do not necessarily require endorsement by majority of citizens if the promoter of such believes in his/her idea(s)."

"The delisting of erring examination centres in real-time served notice to all other centres that any form of examination malpractice will not be tolerated and will be sanctioned immediately.

This singular step assisted in discouraging centres from engaging in malpractices."
