Insurance Firm Motivates UNILAG Students With N2.5m Fund Modified: 7th December, 2021 • Gist The SBG Insurance Brokers Limited has instituted a N2.5m ten-year tenure endowment fund for best graduating insurance students in the University of Lagos, Akoka. According to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, SBG Insurance Brokers Limited, Mr Sammy Dalmeida, the SBG Insurance Brokers Prize for the Best Graduating Insurance Student is a scholarship for academic excellence in insurance. Dalmedia maintained that the annual prize aimed at spurring insurance students to academic excellence would present the best graduating insurance student with N250, 000 every year for the next ten years. “The purpose of the prize is to honour and recognize hard work and academic excellence, and celebrate the sacrifices and dedication of the most outstanding insurance student from UNILAG. “We expect that, by this Corporate Social Responsibility Project, SBG Insurance Brokers will be contributing and strengthening the quality of skilled personnel in the Nigerian insurance industry. The brokerage firm expects recipients of the annual award will be the most hardworking student in their set and will be well deserving of the prize, having demonstrated academic excellence. He also gave some insights in to the reasons businesses fail saying, “The question then is why businesses fail? Interestingly, it is the same factors behind the success of some businesses that also account for the failure of some other businesses which are lack of adequate skills, (technical, management and soft skills,) lack of strategy, lack of sufficient funds for working capital, lack of market research, the high cost of doing business and the inconsistency of government policies are some of the major reasons for the high failure rate on Nigerian start-ups.” Kindly share on Whatsapp, X, Facebook.
