Edutainment will improve teaching, learning, says LASG


The Lagos State Government has said edutainment will improve teaching and learning in the state if properly utilised.

Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, said this at the 2021 Lagos State Festival of Instructional Materials held Alausa, Ikeja.

She said the theme of the event, ‘Edutainment in the 21st Century Classroom: Panacea for the Achievement of Education 2030 Agenda,’ was aimed at stimulating educators to adopt new instructional strategies of teaching in the classroom.

Adefisayo maintained that the programme would improve learning outcomes of students, adding that the state government had continued to provide various opportunities for the students to display their innate skills and talents by showcasing them to the world.

She said, “Asides their academic work, students are also gifted in entertainment and various co-curricular programmes are organised by the Ministry to actively engage them and build them towards a better future.

“With the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration, education is taking a different dimension and all is being done through huge investments to ensure teaching and learning is improved on, our students are doing exceptionally well and our teachers are exposed to best practices”.

“I am thrilled and impressed with the various displays and projects executed by these students which are a testament to the quality of education across all our schools.”

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr Abayomi Abolaji, noted that the programme was to discover learning abilities of students, saying the instructional materials made learning fun and interesting for the students.
