Alleged Murder Of OAU Student: The Inside Story

The murder was gruesome and the action dastardly. The Osun State Police on Friday reassured the general public that there will be no compromise in the ongoing of the alleged murder case that indicted Chief Ramon Chairman of Hilton Hotel and Resort where a Master’s degree of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State Timothy Adegoke Oludare, who had lodged at the hotel was allegedly murdered.


Speaking with Saturday the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola denied the allegation that the police are trying to compromise in the of the alleged murder.


“If the police want to sweep under the carpet, we will not be giving updates on the case like we have been doing. We will always share updates with the public the need arises,” she said.


Recalled that the deceased, Adegoke Oludare, a Chartered Accountant from Eruwa, Oyo State was declared missing by his after he left Abuja on Friday 5th November 2021 to Akure airport to Ile-Ife. He later lodged at Hilton Hotel at Ile Ife in Osun state. The deceased wife was said to have raised the alarm when she could not reach her husband the next day on the phone.


Oludare was reported missing since he checked in at the hotel on Friday, November 5 preceding his scheduled for Saturday, November 6, and Sunday, November 7.


A family source who said a report was made at the police station added that the hotel at first denied the ever lodged at the hotel.


“We went to the hotel with the Police Anti-kidnapping squad of Oshogbo to make inquiries but they denied the identity of my brother at the hotel. After some hours of the police arrested six staff of the hotel. It was then they confirmed that my brother lodged at the hotel.

“Further efforts to trace the hotel inventory, we got to notice that they doctored the record documents for the days my brother spent there.” Following the police investigation, money paid by Oludare for lodging was traced to Adesola, who works in the hotel.


The source, however, alleged that the owner of the hotel, who also owns Oduduwa University and other initially, denied that Oludare was at the hotel.


“Adegoke’s wife contacted and the relatives immediately sent delegates to the examination centre of the OAU to confirm their son was in the examination hall. The examination coordinator checked the attendance for Saturday and Sunday (6th and 7th November) and discovered that Adegoke Oludare did not come for the exams.


“OAU Management and relatives proceeded to the police station to report the matter and began. In the effort of the OAU management, the chairman of the hoteliers’ association was contacted to reach out to hotels whether Oludare lodged in any of the hotels but no positive response was received.


“On Wednesday, November 10th, 2021, wife of Adegoke Timothy Oludare discovered the receipt of the hotel in which her husband lodged the penultimate weekend to 5th, 2021. The name of this Hotel was Hilton Hotels and Resorts.


“The investigation panel to Hilton to enquire whether Adegoke Oludare lodged again in the penultimate weekend which was 5th November 2021. They met the of the hotel, Chief Rahman Adegoke Adedoyin, but they denied that Adegoke Timothy Oludare ever lodged at the hotel.


“On Thursday 11th November 2021, investigation revealed that Timothy Oludare transferred the sum of N37,000 from his account to a lady whose name is Adedeji Adesola, and the details of the transfer showed that the transaction took place on Friday, 5th November 2021 that Adegoke Oludare’s wife claimed that her husband reported having lodged at a hotel in Ile Ife.”


The source also alleged that an cleric was also involved in the matter and that he is among the six persons that have been arrested as suspects in connection with the case.


“Upon tracking the phone number on the said account, it was discovered that the owner of that number was at that moment at the Hilton Hotels and Resorts owned by Rahman Adedoyin. Police proceeded to the venue and Tobiloba Adesola was fished out to be a staffer of the said hotel.


“Adedeji Tobiloba Adesola was apprehended and she confessed to allocating room 35 of Hilton Hotels and Resorts to Adegoke Timothy Oludare the same Friday. She was arrested and taken to the police Osogbo.


“On November 12, 2021, her led to arrests of six other suspects by the police. One of the suspects who is a self-acclaimed Alfa (Islamic cleric), who was also later discovered to be a member of staff of the hotel, claimed to have left Ile-Ife for Ejigbo on Friday. his confession, police tracking had shown that Adegoke Timothy Oludare’s phone was moved from Ile-Ife to Ejigbo between 5th and 6th November 2021. According to Alfa’s confession, the murder of Oludare is the fifth this year.


“On November 13, 2021, the of Hilton Hotels and Resorts mobilised three lawyers to Osogbo in order to pervert the investigation The police also seemed to have compromised in the investigation.”


Days later, the mutilated and corpse of Oludare was discovered to be buried in a shallow grave and some part of the body has been removed.


One of the staff of the hotel, who has also been detained by the Police made a confessional statement that the Alfa was given an instruction by their boss to kill Oludare and he was buried just beside the hotel. The body has been deposited at OAUTH while the investigation is ongoing.


According to Mr. Timothy’s elder brother, this was not the first time a case similar to that of his brother will happen in the hotel, as reports have it that his brother’s case was the case. He also revealed that Chief Adedoyin sent a lawyer from Ile Ife to Oshogbo to meet with him to bribe him and pervert the investigation process and also arrange a meeting, which he refused.


However, detectives from Osun State Police Command supported by the team of Inspector General Of Police from Zone 11 are working round the clock to determine the of involvement of Ile Ife chief and six other persons already arrested in connection with a heinous crime.


The police through the State Commissioner, Wole Tokede has reassured the public that the matter will not be swept under the carpet that the command would ensure that there is justice.


A statement made by another cousin of the deceased, Mr. Lekan Hassan who has known him since his childhood said that his concern is just to let justice take its course as the incident has already happened and nobody can do anything about it.


“It’s just left for those who the injustice to be brought to book, and justice will surely be done. The incident has been brought to the notice of the public and the social as a petition was presented at the National Assembly by Senator Yemi Taiwo which should reduce the fear of the public from not getting justice.”
