2021 UTME: EDUCATION MINISTER, MP, MONITOR EXERCISE, IMPRESSED WITH CONDUCT Modified: 4th December, 2024 • Jamb The Minister of State for Education, Dr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, and the Senator representing Imo North, distinguished Senator Frank Ibezim have commended the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for the wonderful preparations it put in place that facilitated the huge success recorded in the conduct of the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). They gave the commendation while monitoring the exercise in Lekki, Lagos, on Saturday, 19th June 2021. The Minister pointed out that the monitoring exercise was to ascertain how the candidates were coping with the Computer-Based Test(CBT) regime, the test environment and the extant COVID 19 protocols, among others. Dr Nwajiuba said, “We visited the centres to see how the candidates are faring, ensure that the photographs and biometrics of candidates are matched properly, to see how soon the JAMB officials get the work done as well as to make sure that the examination is conducted in line with international best practices." Continuing, the Minister said, "I see a lot of good work going on here and we are impressed." Senator Ibezim, who accompanied the Minister on the tour, expressed the same sentiment adding that JAMB had done creditably well in the conduct of the 2021 UTME. Senator Ibezim, who is also a member of the Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education, counselled the candidates on the benefits of being upright urging them to believe firmly in the Nigerian project and shun examination malpractice. Continuing, the distinguished Senator said: "We are impressed with the conduct of the exam. I can only surmise that this country is going to be great when the myriads of innovations in the education sector are taken to account. Similarly, no country can survive on its own. As such, we all need to understand that it is only by working hard as a team that we can make this country great again. I can only implore other agencies to embrace technology the way JAMB has done to advance our nation.” Members of the various monitoring groups were also on hand to give their commendations on the successful conduct of the examination. These included: Roving Group, Mr Aminu Akoshile; Media and Civil Society Group, Mr Henry Nwosu; and High-powered Opinion Leaders Group, Rev. Isemede. Kindly share on Whatsapp, X, Facebook.
