Explanation
According to Karl Marx and his collaborator, Friedrich Engel, the communist society will be organized on the principle of "from each according to his ability to each according to his needs." This according to Appadorai means that each person in the society will contribute to the wealth of the society by his labour as much as he can, and will take from the social wealth as much as he needs. This shows that unlike before when people's needs can only be met through the quality and quantity of tasks or occupation (ability) they are engaged in, the needs of people in a communist society will be met irrespective of the job they do. While in socialism, the principle is "from each according to his ability. to each according to his contribution".
