Reasons why some countries adopt Written Constitutions:
(i) Easy reference: A written constitution makes for easy reference. It can easily be referred to in most of the courts especially on cases involving two or more contending parties.
(ii) Fear of domination: It removes the fear of domination by majority over the minority by helping to protect their interests
(iii) Documentation: A written constitution is properly documented, stating clearly the fundamental rights of citizens.
(iv) Availability: A written constitution is easily available.This is because it is a single document.
(v) Method of amendment is properly defined and does not give room for a few individuals who can easily manipulate the constitution for their own selfish ends.
(vi) Mode of assessment: A written constitution has in its provision, the principles governing the activities of organs of government, tiers of government local, state and central governments, etc. It is, therefore, relevant for assessing their performance in this wise.
(vii) Knowledge of individual rights: Individuals in the society can easily obtain a written constitution in order to know their rights, duties and obligations.
(viii) Denial or violation of rights: Citizens can easily know their rights especially where there is a denial or violation of such rights.
(ix) It eliminates conflict: A written constitution has succeeded in defining in clear terms, powers and functions of each organ of government.This helps to eliminate conflicts in the performance of their functions.
(x) Absence of distortions: There is absence of distortions mostly found in unwritten constitution.
