Explanation
Why it is important for the Civil Service to be politically neutral are:
(i) Political neutrality promotes objectivity and solid advice to the ruling party in government.
(ii) Effective job performance is usually the outcome in the civil service if political neutrality is maintained.
(iii) If there is political neutrality in the civil service, political interference is reduced especially in appointments, promotions, dismissals, retirements, etc.
(iv) One of the features of the civil service is permanence and this can only be made possible if political neutrality of the service is respected.
(v) Corruption, tribalism, nepotism, etc, are reduced to the barest minimum.
