Explanation
Functions of Pressure Group include:
(i) Welfare Services : Certain general welfare services are promoted by pressure groups. For example Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) offers free legal services to the less privileged in the society.
(ii) It is a link: Pressure group acts as a link between the people and the government.
(iii) Promotion of economic stability: This is made possible through the chamber of commerce.
(iv) Advises the government: It advises the government on some vital issues of administration at the local, state, or central governments. It also gives useful suggestions.
(v) Watch dog: Pressure group watches over public issues and policies of administration in a country.
(vi) Political education: It helps in giving its members political education. This helps them in knowing their political rights and decisions made in government.
(vii) Provision of Manpower: Pressure group a reservoir bank from where government can employ experts to work in the government, e.g Judges in Courts are drawn or appointed from the Nigerian Bar Association.
(viii) Promotion of the interest of the members: The basic function of pressure group is generally the protection and promotion of the interests and welfare of its members.
