(b) Characteristics of African Rivers
(a) Most of the rivers are characterised by rapids, cataracts and waterfalls
(b) Most of them are seasonal in nature. They only flow during the rainy season
(c) Most of the rivers are shallow
(d) Most African rivers are short in length and fast flowing
(e) There is seasonal fluctuation in the volume of water
(f) Some rivers have weeds / floating vegetation
(g) Many African rivers contain debris or sediments such as leave, mud, etc.
(h) Most African rivers change their colour especially during the rainy season mainly because of the sediments they carry during this time.
