(b) Effects of warm or cold ocean current on climate and vegetation: Warm Current: (i) Raises the temperature of adjacent coastland
(ii) Raises the temperature of surface waters
(iii) Resulting in high rainfall
(iv) High rainfall and high temperature give rise to dense vegetation
(v) Makes the on-shore wind to carry more moisture inland
Cold Current (i) Lower the temperature of adjacent coastland
(ii) Lowers the temperature of surface waters
(iii) On shore wind form fog
(iv) Low rainfall/arid condition gives rise to desert vegetation
(v) Resulting in scanty rainfall and arid conditions
(vi) Responsible for the formation of Namib Desert (cold Benguella Current).
