Explanation
(a) Similarities of Latitude and Longitudes
(i) Both are imaginary lines
(ii) Both are drawn on the globe or map
(iii) Both are measured in degrees
(iv) Both are used for location of places or positions on the globe.
(v) Both are circular in shape
(b) Differences between Latitudes and Longitudes;
(i) Latitudes are drawn from West to East, while longitudes a drawn from North to South
(ii) Latitudes are called parallels while longitudes are called meridians
(iii) Longitudes are used to calculate time, while latitudes are not
(iv) Only the equator is a Great Circle among the latitudes while all lines of longitudes form Great Circles with their opposite members
(v) Latitudes are parallel and never meet while longitudes converge and meet at the poles.
