(b) Four problems facing river transportation in Nigeria are: (i) Shallowness of some rivers especially during the dry seasons
(ii) Presence of rapids and cataracts prevents navigation
(iii) Most rivers do not flow to the desired places which are of economic importance
(iv) Most rivers pass through thick vegetation and the debris formed from falling leaves and trees makes navigation difficult.
(c) These problems can be solved through: (i) Dredging some parts of navigable rivers
(ii) Removal of cataracts
(iii) Cutting down of close trees to rivers
