Discuss the characteristics of either the Western Highlands or the North Central Highlands of Nigeria under tile following headings;
Explanation
(a) Relief of Western Highland: The area lies between 300 and 600m above the sea level. The hills'found include Idanre (the highest of 900m). Effon Alaye, Epemi, Akpata Hills, etc
(b) Drainage: The area of highland is drained by three rivers which flow directly into the Alantic Ocean. These rivers are Ogun, Osun and Osse
(c) Soils: The 'easement complex rocks give rise to ferruginous soils which are acidic but fertile. They have high clay content and good drainage
(d) Vegetation: The area is mainly rainforest in the southern part with luxuriant evergreen forest trees like I roko, Obeche, Mahogany, etc, while the Northern area is covered by derived Savanna with tall grasses and short scanty trees,
(e) Human activities: The main occupation of the people is farming especially crops like cocoa, kola, rubber, cotton and tobacco. Other are yam, cassava, etc. They are also involved in mining like limestone in Ewekoro, Ukpila, Shagamu. Other minerals include marble and gold. Gold is mined in Ilesha.
