(A) THE FIRST CREATION STORY (GENESIS 1:1-31)
i. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
ii. The earth was without form and void and darkness engulfed it.
iii. The Spirit of God moved over the face of the waters.
iv. On the first day, light was created and was separated from darkness to form day and night.
v. On the second day, the firmament/heavens were created.
vi. On the third day, land, sea and vegetation were created.
vii. God created the heavenly bodies (Sun, Moon and Stars) on the fourth day. viii. On the fifth day, sea animals and birds were created.
ix. God finally created land animals on the sixth day.
x. Subsequently, God created man in His own image and likeness and gave him dominion over all creatures.
xi. On the seventh day, God rested, and made it Holy.
(B) REASONS WHY MAN IS REGARDED AS THE CROWN OF CREATION
i. Ability to distinguish between good and evil because he has intelligence.
ii. Man was created in the image and likeness of God/He did not evolve.
iii. Man was given the creative ability of God.
iv. Man was given the ability to subdue the earth/the fate and sustenance of the world lies in the hands of mankind.
v. He was also given dominion over all creatures/ He was to have mastery over all aspects of life.
vi. Man was to give names to other creatures, indicating his superiority.
vii. Man was the last to be created, thus crown of all creation.
