a) Describe God's creation of the following: (i) light; (ii) woman. [12 marks]
(b) In what three ways does creation reveal God's nature? [ 3 marks]
Explanation
(a) (i) Creation of Light(Genesis 1:1-5):
(i) Before creation, the world was formless and void with only darkness upon the face of the deep
(ii) And only God's spirit was moving over the face of the waters.
(iii) On the first day of creation, God said "Let there be light" and there was light.
(iv) But the light, comprising the sun, moon and stars was created the fourth day
(v) And God saw that the light He created the first day was good.
(vi) He then separated the light from the darkness to create day and night.
(vii) The light He called day and darkness the night.
(viii) The light was to be for signs, seasons, day and night.
(ix) Hence, the reckoning of the first day.
(ii) Creation of Woman (Genesis 2:7, 18-24):
(i) In the second account, God created man out of dust and gave him breath to become a living being.
(ii) God placed man in the Garden of Eden to keep and till it.
(iii) God found man to he alone and decided to get a fitting partner for him.
(iv) He put Adam to sleep, took his rib and closed its place up.
(v) God used Adam's rib to create a woman
(vi) Adam became excited when the woman was brought to him
(vii) He said: 'This at last is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh'.
(viii) And she shall be called woman because she was taken out of man.
(b) Ways By Which Creation Reveals God's Nature
(i) God's sovereignty. By creating the world with words of mouth out of nothing.
(ii) Everything created is under God's control and is dependent on Him.
(iii) No creature determines its own nature but God does.
(iv) God is not created. He is eternal (the Alpha and Omega).
(v) God is a God of order and not of disorder.
(vi) He is perfect and inherently good.
(vii) God delegated His power to man by giving man power over all creation.
(viii) God has absolute freedom.
(ix) God has ultimate wisdom
(x) He also has ultimate love
(xi) God is all knowing/omniscient
(xii) He is also omnipotent.
