Outline Paul's teaching on spiritual gifts. [15 marks]
Explanation
(1) There are varieties of gifts, but the same spirit.
(2) There are varieties of service but the same Lord.
(3) To each is given the manifestation of the spirit for the common good.
(4) One is given, through the spirit, the utterance of wisdom.
5) To another, the utterance of knowledge; to another, faith.
(6) To another, gifts of healing; to another, the working of miracles.
(7) To another, prophesy; to another„ the ability to distinguish between spirits.
(8) To another, various kinds of tongues; to another, the interpretation of tongues.
(9) All these are inspired by one and the same spirit.
(10) Just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body are one, so it is with Christ.
(11) By one spirit, we were all baptised into one body.
(12) Jews or Greeks, slaves or free, all were made to drink of one spirit.
(13) The body consists of many members/parts, yet one body.
(14) The foot cannot say I am an eye, so I don't belong to the body.
(15) Nor can the ear I am not the eye, I don't belong to the body.
(16) The eye cannot say to the hand, nor the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
(17) On the contrary, the parts of the body which seem weaker are indispensable.
(18) Those parts of the body we consider less honourable we invest with the greatest honour.
(19) If one member suffers, all suffer together.
(20) If one member is honoured, all rejoice together.
(21) You are the body of Christ and, individually, members of it.
(22) God has appointed to the Church - apostles, prophets, workers of miracles, healers, helpers, administrators, speakers in various kinds of tongues.
