Sierra Leone was an African country where ex-slaves were instrumental in the missionary activities in Africa These ex-slaves were converted and they served as interpreters of African languages. They helped the European missionaries to solve the problem of language barrier. Among them were Samuel Ajayi Crowther and Simon Jonas.
