Explanation
mitosis produces daughter cells that are genetically identical to the parent cell, so that no variation in genetic information can therefore be introduced during mitosis (it leads to genetic stability)

- Cells are constantly dying and being replaced through mitosis
- Mitosis is the basis of asexual reproduction
- Some animals are able to regenerate whole parts of the body (mitosis does not bring about degeneration)
